  It makes me sad that there are so many here who were baptized as children, not fully aware of the long-term consequences of such a decision.

  At 17 I made that decision and like jack2 there have been many times I could take it back - not the promise to love God but the public display known as baptism in the JWs.

  i knocked on the locked door of the appeal hearing last night after they had dismissed bill and told the six elders that i had something to say to them and told them it was summed up it a letter i had written.i then asked them if i could read it to them and they could have their own copy when i was finished.they said that would be fine.. here it is.

  The power of your letter comes more in what it does for YOU rather in what it may do for those you wrote it to.

  Both you and Bill have suffered a lot for taking a stand for victims. In doing so you too have become victims of this org.

  We all know that the org will not listen. Letters such as this are not really for them. They are for us. They are an opportunity to say what is in our hearts and minds. When we stand face to face with the enemy and find the courage to speak our truth we grow stronger. In speaking our truth we lessen the death grip that abusers have over us. We grow into our own strength which is formidable to have taken on Goliath.

  You have won. You may not feel like it right now but you have won a victory here. One that the world can see.

  I am sure that as time goes on you will find a wide range of emotional reactions to the last couple of years. Please check into the symptopms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (if you haven't already. Take care of yourselves well. Get all the support you need. Take all the time that you need.

  I think you will find that for all the support you have given to the victims you will receive it back one-hundred-fold. At least I hope so.

  Please remember you are not alone. You and Bill have the affection of all those you fought to help and all their supporters.

  Most importatnly you have your minds. And your hearts. You have your conscience. And you have your freedom.

  as of 8:30 pm this evening the appeal hearing decided to uphold the decision.

  i spoke to them for over an hour and tried to reason with them as to the validity of their decision.

  frankly, they were not interested.

  This saddens me but like many others, is no surprise. Dysfunction cannot tolerate a breath of fresh air. To do so would reveal the underbelly.

  What they don't realize is that in their attempt to "keep the cong clean" they are actually bringing a greater shame on the God they supposedly worship. The world will see them for what they really are and hopefully new people will not be so ready to be ensnared in its grip.

  Bill I am sure that when you found that first envelop you little realized the road you would travel. It has not been easy and I am sure there have been times when you cried out to Jehovah about the injustice.

  Thank you for being a man of integrity. They are rare in the world and sadly even more rare on the WTS

  You are now face to face with a realization that many of us have had for a long time. This is not God's organization. Matt 23 describes them so well.

  I suspect there are a wide range of feelings you and your family are having. That is normal and expected. Feel them. Experience them. Mourn the loss of what was dear to you.

  And move on. Jehovah has not left you.

  You are free.

  Support forum for those abused in WTS

  over the last few weeks a lot of people have come forward and posted stories of abuse while they were jws.

  these often were experiences as a child victim or a wife at the hands of an abusive husband.

  the forums are open to active jws and those who have left.

  Farkel Your points are most definitely valid. I think they would fall into what people are not told but my main point was the legality of allowing children to make this type of contract. whether to the org or to God

  I too was baptized under the older rules and my vow was to God not the org. And yes in 1969 I had to go through the old questions with the elders
